Italy

This year Italy was voted as the most beautiful country in the world! It's not hard to imagine why when you consider all this country has to offer; the Mediterranean Sea, mountains, the rolling hills of Tuscany, lakes, endless sunshine! And you can't forget about the food!!! Pasta, pizza, wine.....you'll need to join a gym after this trip! Italy has something to offer everyone; whether you love history and want to see the ancient ruins, monuments or the museums, or nature lovers can explore the natural wonders including the thermal baths, Alps and Dolomites, the beautiful blue sea with cliffs and caves. Let's take a look at some of the marvelous places to see in Italy, starting with what I call the big 4: Rome, Florence, Venice, and the Amalfi Coast. Then we'll take a look at some of the country's best off the beaten path destinations.

Rome

Rome almost needs no introduction. This city is jam packed with ancient Roman ruins and monuments including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and much more. It is home to the smallest country in the world; Vatican City. You can enjoy some of Rome's traditional dishes including pasta all' amatriciana and carbonara. Take a walk through the enchanting streets of Trastevere along cobblestone paths and feel like you've been transported through time. No trip to Italy would be complete without visiting this incredible city that I called home for 7 years.

Florence

The home of art and the Renaissance, the medieval city of Florence can be your home base while you venture through Tuscany. Strolling along the rivers edge over the Ponte Vecchio is sure to be an experience you won't want to miss. Visit the incredible Duomo in the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and catch one of the most beautiful sunsets at Piazzale Michelangelo to see the city seemingly painted in hues of orange and gold. For the art history lovers, this city is a must! We can help get you set up with visits to the Uffizi museum, see the statue of David, and much more. Day trips are available to the smaller Tuscan towns and villages including San Gimignano, Sienna, Montepulciano, and Pisa. Don't forget the incredible wine tour experience through world famous regions such as Chianti!

Venice

With its reputation as one of the most romantic cities in the world, visiting this city in the north of Italy will surely be a highlight on a trip with your loved one or on a honeymoon! Wandering aimlessly through the canals is one of the best things to do in Venice, it's truly a magical experience. Take a romantic gondola ride and relax in the arms of the one you love. Visiting the neighboring islands of Murano and Burano will add to the enchantment you'll experience when visiting Venezia!

Amalfi Coast

The dramatic scenery of cliff towns above the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean will surely impress! No matter which towns you visit, the views will be spectacular! You can take a boat tour along the coast, visit the island of Capri and go inside the Blue Grotto cave. One of my personal favorites is to hike along the Sentiero degli Dei, Path of the Gods. At the top of the mountain staring down the vast coastline, you will be in awe of its incredible beauty and definitely understand how this trail got its name. Nearby you will also find Naples, Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, and Sorrento.

Off the Beaten Path

Umbria

Love the idea of Tuscany but want to avoid the crowds or venture the road less wandered? Then this region is perfect for you. Towns and cities such as Perugia, Assisi, Spello, and more deliver that authentic Italian charm you desire without all the hustle and bustle!

Cilento

This charming national park area has incredible mountains, sea, and archaeological sites. There are the Greek ruins of Paestum, grottos in Palinuro, Marina di Camerota, and Castellabate. Just an hour south of the Amalfi Coast, you will find similar coastlines and towns at a fraction of the crowd size (and cost).

Calabria & Sicily

These southern regions are much less traveled by international tourists so you will find yourself immersed among the locals. These regions are foodie paradises and home to dramatic coastlines and breathtaking landscapes. Want to visit one of the most active volcanoes in the world? Then go visit Mt. Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
